Need input on Jr. High Schools other than MUSD

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to 99 cents a can.  That's almost $7.00 in dog money.  ~Joe Weinstein

I've heard mixed reviews on Legacy. So I am on the fence about them.

My daughter attends Sequoia Pathway here in Maricopa at Porter & Honeycutt. She attended for 6th grade and is currently in 7th. Very happy with the school, her teachers and most of all SHE loves it. She's part of their National Junior Honor Society, Yearbook Club and on the school's competition cheer team.

Sequoia Pathway Academy is on Porter across from Pacana Park.

I can't speak from personal experience about the junior high and high school levels, but elementary school there has been phenomenal.  I do have friends who pulled their kids from Desert Winds and MHS and put them at Pathway, and they have been very happy with the change.

The staff is extremely involved and responsive and they truly abide by the school's philosophy that "every child is known."  I encourage you to tour the school, talk to the principal, and observe some classrooms.

You can also learn more about the school at http://sequoiapathway.org/

That is pretty much verbatim what I've heard as well.

Starla - I'll give you my Pathway experience(s) offline.  Both stellar reviews and just some observations on my part over the past few years.

One could keep their child in the MUSD schools and work with the school to make it better. I like MMS and MES.. The principal at MES is doing a great job!

What's MMS?

I do agree and we have been involved with MUSD for all of Daniel's schooling here. (5+ years)
However, sending him to our current middle school is an option and we want to look at all of the options. He has been on honor rolls every quarter so far, which indicates to me that he might benefit from a little more in general.

This is why Starla is looking for all input.

MES is a JOKE, you couldn't pay me to take my child there and I live right across the street.    MUSD needs alot of work and according to some of the teachers they do not even send their children there.

I'm VERY happy at Pathway, but can only speak for grades K - 1 so far.

Jackson's in 4th grade now, and he's done K-4 at Kyrene del Milenio. He will go to middle school at Akimel, also in the Kyrene district.

Actually, we are not looking at MES. He would eother go to MWMS or DWMS next year.

For the record, we would not send him to MES. When we lived in the Meadows, we kept him in Butterfield. I stand by that decision even knowing that MES improved by leaps and bounds in recent years.

The question posed has to do with weather or not we keep him in Maricopa School District or look at other school systems.

We are very open on this at this point and are looking for input from other folks on their experiences with their children.
