As explained, those summits are for the residents. Council are not required to attend and since many Councilmembers (but not all) including Carl meet with the Director of Economic Development as well as the City Mgr often - usually weekly - it is not necessary for them to be at those meetings. Now for someone considering running for an elected position within the City or someone interested in the direction the City is headed, I would hope they WOULD attend.
As far as his wife saying "if it wasn't for her, he wouldn't know where he was supposed to be, when." That is COMPLETELY out of context and I know exactly who that was said to and why. It had nothing to do with City business or anything at all to do with Maricopa. Carl has missed 3 City Council Meetings in 4 years. He attends a myriad of other meetings both scheduled and impromptu on a regular basis. If someone is going to base their vote for Mayor on meeting attendance for meetings that someone is not required to attend then go for it.
Kimberly, you need to be informed to make comments like you have above, because you are 100% incorrect and misleading people on this forum.
No, the Economic Summits are not for the residents. IF, Carl had attended one, he would know that and be able to educate you.
The Economic Summits are where our ECDev department invites prospective developpers and store owners, important people, to come and hear information about what's happening and what's available in Maricopa. This is where ALL city council members are needed to show their enthusiasm and excite prospectives to Maricopa. It was KEY for Carl to be here. And for him to say he didn't play a part, shows a lot about what Carl made time for. He didn't make time for any of these meetings. PURE FACT!
However, PRICE for Mayor, did make time for them. He wanted to be prepared with an understanding of how the summits benefit Maricopa. Maybe Carl should have done the same.
