347 NB @ mm180
« on: 16 January 2012, 19:05:41 »
From Gilla River:

Advisory: AVOID SR-347 at Mile Post 180 for the next **2 hours** due to traffic incident. Lane closures for Northbound traffic.

Gila River Fire Department advises you to AVOID SR-347 due to a current traffic issue.

An active diesel fuel leak near Mile Post 180 has closed northbound lanes and will require a detour of traffic for the next **2 hours**.

**Suggested Detour: Northbound SR-347 traffic should detour East onto Casa Blanca Road to I-10 West. Exit Riggs Road and head West to SR-347**.

If you're already on I-10, why would you get off at Riggs to go back to 347 which loops back up to the 10 again anyway?

LOL. I am just  reposting what GRIC posted.

Personally, I am happy when we get any news reports from up there.

No, you would take CG to 10 and get where you are going.

Because when they get you back on the surface streets, you become a potential revenue stream for them again. It's in their best interest to have you off the freeway.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

In most places, that makes sense, however here, not so much.  There's nothing on Riggs between I-10 and 347 and there's nothing on 347 between Riggs & I-10, except for the Cultural Center (I don't think I've ever seen a car in the parking lot) and the turn-off to the casino (not really a spur of the moment stop people likely make as they're headed somewhere else), and anyone who would follow that route wouldn't take that turn-off because they wouldn't know that the turn-off leads to a casino.

I take that turn to get into Ahwatukee if I know I-10 is crap. You can go around the casino to the west, but it's a long ways around. Sometimes more miles equal less time, thoug.

I didn't say no one who had any idea where they were going would take the Firebird turn-off, I said that no one who had any idea where they were going would likely take 347 --> Casa Blanca --> I-10 --> Riggs --> 347 --> (either Firebird or I-10).  LOL

If I-10 were bad enough to justify that route, I think I'd just turn around and go back home!
