You should experience New Years in Hawaii.  The Chinese, which make up a big part of the local population, love their fireworks.  Mostly it's the Black Cat type firecrackers that go off - by the billions.  It's amazing - the smoke settles over the island like a fog.  Each year the news stations advise people with respiratory problems to stay indoors.  The next day, the streets are littered and inch thick with tiny bits of paper.

Sounds like the neighborhood I grew IP in in NE Phoenix.   Except none of us were Chinese.  ;)

Or when I worked in south Phoenix before they came up with Shannon's law.  You had to make sure your car was in the garage or carport or else it had a good chance of getting damage from falling bullets.

I was in a 'fun' part of LA one year. I always went to bed early on New Year's because I had to be at the Rose Parade at 4:30am. I woke up to the sound of fireworks....

No... It was a barage of gunshots of every type from every direction. That was a unique evening...

Santa Monica Blvd and Western was always a fun area anyhow. LOL

I used to have friends that lived near 35th Ave & McDowell.  They had quite a few parties and I went there for more than one NYE bash.  We always stayed under their carport around midnight!   ;)

I remember doing the NYE party at a friend's place in the area of 16th St and Oak.  It was fine until some idiot opened up with a M-60 a couple of streets over...on full auto.  This was back in the early 90s.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.
