Meh, I don't file taxes. If you can find a way to make it work, you can claim my share.

K thanks
How can you not believe in the one that gave you the option not to?

I will make/ask a religious-y statement/question:

I'm totally cool with you (not directed an anyone in particular) being Christian.
Why aren't you cool with me *not* being Christian?
You know, I have the same question for some atheists. I really don't think it has anything to do with religion. You either think you're better than everyone else, or you don't. Personally, I'm proud to be Catholic and I see evidence of God every single day. I think you're crazy if you don't.  :D But I'll generally keep that to myself, and I really don't care if you never "find" God. I don't try to convert people, and hardly any religious person I know actually does. I think it's the extremists you're thinking of. Just like when I think of atheists, a lot of times smug, angry people come to mind, yet I know that does not describe them all. I know of a few smart, kind people who simply don't believe in God, and that's just fine by me. Personally, I think it's ridiculous when people try to *argue* you out of your religion. You're wasting your breath, just like I'm wasting mine trying to argue you into one. I don't like extremists on either end of the spectrum. And those are my ramblings on religion.

I like you.  ;)

We had Scwinn Twins here half a dozen or so times within a couple months. I'm always polite with them or the JW. I listen, smile, nod. I know they need to do their witnessing, and I'm perfectly happy to listen to/for them. The ones that kept coming, though, kept telling me to pray and god would show me it's their way or the hell way (my words, not theirs).

I couldn't get them to understand that I don't believe in a god to pray to. They'd still tell me to pray. To who? God. God who? The God. But I don't believe in a god. Pray about it.

frack a duck.

Yeah, I can't imagine going door to door to try to convert people. Does that ever even work? I would think God would be happier with them taking that time to do community service or something.

Yep. We were still moving in last weekend, and had some friends over. He showed up and left some info with the wife.  I thought it was a bit strange.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

We had him here months ago. Probably last spring. Said he was opening an office in town "soon" and was looking to drum up business.

More of the story....

So Dad became a huge Roman Catholic a few years back in honor of his mom.

I kinda left during that transistion.

Currently, Dad should be in a hospital and my mom wants to put him out of his misery. (He was in for kidney stones, he refuses to do anything the doctor orders including drinking water.)

Religion is faith. It is faith on what you believe. Sometimes it is great. Sometimes, not so much.

18 years ago in LA, there was a motor officer with LAPD that felt a major quake in LA. He knew there where injuries. He selfleshly hit the freeway interchange at the 18 freeway. He KNEW the road was there... It was not. He drove off the interchange to his death.

On the other hand, I have watched similar folks KNOW that in the same earthquake that noboby is alive... And then a dog yeps... And then someone is pulled from the rubble 5 days after the initial quake.

True religion is based on faith and trust. Folks, like myself, understand that our lives just go on.  We don't take much time to think about end of life.

The thing that is interesting to me is one absolute fact... One that I know intensly. Energy cannot be created or destroyed.

Both athieists and the faithfull don't get that one.

I think I will go forward as a photon. (A very excited electron that bounces through the orbits and just keeps going)
