Almost a year and no new posts here.....
« on: 23 November 2011, 15:49:38 »
......does that mean it's a taboo subject?  Not a lot of "religious" folks?  More who are "spiritual" rather than religious?
No atheists or agnostics interested in debate?

To be stereotypical, I'd take "spiritual" folks long before "religious".

But, I'm an evil "sinner" who thinks organized religion is the only socially accepted from of schizophrenia, so my opinion is generally disregarded.

I don't talk God. He deserted me and so I refuse to give Him airtime.

There is really nothing to debate. Either you see God or you don't. But IMHO he doesn't like silly religious ritual either.

He deserted you? Or He didn't give you what you wanted/desired/needed, so you gave up on him?
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

I have accepted the fact that I am a sinner, believe in Jesus literally like the bible says, but also accept that all of our emotions, needs, and desires are part of our life experience and should be embraced and enjoyed.  I still dont see the creation story as literal, too much science to believe things happened that way.  I enjoy sex, strong drink, and acquiring wealth, and still believe in the bible.  I guess that makes me the Anti Christ.

I just refuse to live a miserable life...

I would rather not. Forty-five years later it is still too painful to share.

No sharing necessary.

I will make/ask a religious-y statement/question:

I'm totally cool with you (not directed an anyone in particular) being Christian.
Why aren't you cool with me *not* being Christian?

Because they care about you and don't want you to go to hell.
That's what they might say, anyway...I don't believe in any of that stuff.  But I was raised in it so I know some of the canned responses.

Dont let them tell you that they want you to be one of them, cause its a lie.  Worse than not wanting to have religion is wanting to enter their religion and not having been a part of it since birth, they will talk smack about you and make your life miserable wayyy worse than if you just left it alone.  A lot of hypocrisy IMO.  Thats why I dont go anymore.

Meh.. Not taboo, just not a debate I want. Too many wars are still being fought over who has the best invisible friend.

Don't get me wrong, I am very religious. I just don't see the need to discuss the matter with folks that think different than I. Nor do I want to discuss it with people that agree with me and tell me I am right. Either way, it is a personal thought and it is what it is. I have yet to find someone that is right... Or wrong.

Generally, I usually find many opinonated people when it comes to the subject.

Now... If you can show me what happens before life or after death... I'll listen. Physics show us that energy can not be created nor can it be destroyed. Religion says the same, no matter which one you subscribe to. (Including the religion of Atheism)

Some days, religion is a smile on a dog. :)

It's simple...When you die...dead like no breath or heart beat..You will find the truth....or nothing.
How can you not believe in the one that gave you the option not to?
