At about 9:40am this morning, Maricopa Police and Fire responding to an accident call on Smith Enke Rd, just east of Porter Rd.
Upon arrival they found a Mercury SUV that had rolled over. The initial call had been for two vehicles involved, but a second vehicle was not involved.
The SUV had been travelling east on Smith Enke Rd when the driver lost control, swerving onto the curb and almost hitting a tree on the south side of the roadway before swerving back onto the road, where the vehicle spun out of control and rolled 360 degrees, landing on it's wheels before skidding another 20-30 feet and coming to a stop.
Both directions of Smith Enke were closed between Porter Rd and Ben St, a neighborhood road into Homestead. According to Brad Pitassi, Public Information Officer for the Maricopa Fire Department, there was only one person in the vehicle, and they were transported to Chandler Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
As soon as the Fire units departed the scene, Westbound Smith Enke was opened up to traffic, while Eastbound stayed closed a while longer, for investigation and clean-up.
