I had no issue signing up.

I did verify the source. This is being used by more and more agencies out there. It is a great way to get needed information out to the masses when it is needed.

It goes well beyond Twitter and news releases sometimes.

Google the site. You will find many SoCal police and fire agencies using it. You will also find many in local governments advocating the free sign up process.

We have a few folks here that work in public safety that want to use all tools available to help inform the public of vital information in a timely manner. Many times these tools are a lot quicker than using traditional press, although the press is used as well. All of these methods, used in combination, are very effective.

Googlefound me nixle.com, which works.   I tried nixie. com.  That's what it originally looked like on my Android.

MMMkay...

...And no scam. LOL

I used 85138. Worked fine. I contacted Brad to make sure it was legit as well as looked at other agencies involved. LAFD, LAPD, LACoSO and others seem to love this.

I strongly recomend the sign up. You can also add other zips where you regularly work or travel to as well as adding zips for family members.

Just to add....

When I asked Brad if it was secure, here was his Twitter response:

"Nixle is extremely secure, 5,500 agencies us it including LAPD, uses same servers that the FBI stores clearing house for it's records"

I noticed that the Natural Gas Leak dispatch Tweet came through Nixle yesterday, too.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

When it was announced at the Council meeting Tuesday, I did a quick try with my Ipad and found they only had 85239 as a valid zip code.  It was told to Brad and he quickly contacted Nixle.com who fixed the issue yesterday, I believe.  All Maricopa zip codes should work now.

Indeed!
It is also great to have Brad back after months of being out of state.
