I am confused .........is the uneasiness due to lack of supervision and a fear of them partying the way 'we' use to or is the fear of someone being a perp in the home?

Yes

In my opinion, and I speak from experience, if you are too strict with your kids they will eventually rebel and do far worse things than what your originally didn't allow them to do. Get to know her friends parents, hang out as families before you let her sleep over.  Start with a sleepover at *your* house first, the move up to letting her stay somewhere else. But don't forbid it or it will end up biting you in the ass.

As a kid who rebelled a lot, I can say that Amys advice is sound  ;)

**Thinking about the many, many nights Ice snuck out of his parent's house, vs me never having the need to.**

Yup. Agreeing with Amy, too.

As a parent...the idea I can stop anything and everything bad from happening is ridiculous and far fetched.  Focus on teaching your children the tools they need to handle a situation as it arises and they will be fine.
