I was a very well behaved kid but it was a different time.  Warning one was the full name being used, warning two was a spanking and warning three was not being able to sit down for a week.  It worked wonders.

When I was little and would get pissed, I'd hide inside the circular racks of clothing. Sometimes I'd fall asleep in there. Took mom quite a while to find me the first few times.

That's right, I used to use a whistle to stop LB from barking--he'd bark, I'd blow the whistle, he'd stop, come for a treat, I'd praise and treat. Then he got so he'd bark when he wanted a treat. Now we are doing something else.

Example of kid "red lighting" an adult:
Kids aren't allowed to cuss. An adult says "damn", kid says Yellow Light.
Adult says "Aww hell", kid says "Red Light" ...

bwhahahahah....that's funny. And that really does happen!  lmao!

yeah if I have no other option than to grab my kid by the arm, and swat my kid on the ass in public, I am not above it. And I don't give a crap who's watching or what they think. At the end of the day, I have to do what is necessary for *MY* child.

I swat other peoples kids. Even if they are behaving... Just to let them know who is Alpha.

I am a fan of the quick arm pinch if all else fails in public. Spanking does nothing to my kids but the pinch gets their attention.

to preserve *MY* sanity, I stick my 5 1/2 y.o. in one of those dreaded car carts and hand him his Nintendo DS. (the DS is a rare treat, so it works)  If it's a short list, I make him help me find stuff and cross it off.  If it involves more than 10 coupons, the DS is in my purse!

I tried the little guestures like that. The first time I pinched Jr he screamed "why did you pinch me that hurt" .Needless to say when we went to the store he wasn't a problem. Or Im blocking it from my memory.
