On a related note, you aren't allowed to walk out of your recovery closet room holding your baby.  We both got in trouble for that.
:)

that's any hospital. a stumbling parent in a busy hallway is too much of a liability.

Ah, I always forget how litigious our society is these days.  You'd think they'd have signs or something though.  I was going to say that the hallways there aren't busy at all unless somebody has a big group of visitors, but I guess that's because everybody isn't walking around with their babies out there.

all it would take is one sleep deprived mamma wandering down a hallway holding her new bundle of joy just as a hurried nurse rushed out of another patient's room and.. ya know..

but seriously. my youngest was born at chandler, but my older two were born in ohio. the rule was the same for all 3, even though i was the ONLY woman in the maternity ward for my entire stay with my second kid.

Yeah,  my husband got in trouble for walking down the hallway with the baby. He had to wheel the bassinet out there instead.

Also, inductions do seem popular these days, and initially I was fine with that. However, my Dr. wouldn't induce until at least 39 weeks (I asked about it at 37 weeks lol), even though most of my friends got induced a little earlier for various reasons. I finally had to get induced at 39 weeks, and would not recommend it. I've heard the contractions hurt even more than when you naturally go into labor. I had assumed that it wouldn't hurt since I planned on getting the epidural, so I was not prepared at all, but I didn't get it until I had gone through hours of the worst pain of my life. IMO, the extra pain, combined with the higher risk of c-section, is not worth getting the baby out a little earlier.

my first kid was induced, next two completely natural. no pain killers.

i'd have a baby natural every day for the rest of my life before i would be induced even once more. it was a nightmare.
