I'll stick to the dream of someday owning an M107.. There's something magical about being able to hit a point-target at 1000 meters (effective range)...

Although.. my old friend has promised me that I have first dibs on his "Ma-Deuce" if it ever came up.. not holding my breath on that though.. I'd have to upgrade my gun safe.. lol..

Well changed the plan up a little
The toy with be a custom barrel chambered in the .45-70 rifle cartridge.

Left to right .30-06,.45-70, and .50-90Sharps

Should be quite the handful. Launching a 500 grain bullet at 1300 fps from a pistol. Equaling the power of both the .500 and .460 Smith & Wesson Magnum in a lighter, trimmer, and more accurate handcannon!

For when someone enters your house uninvited, you can just blast them back out the front door 20 feet or so...

I think you should modify the Thompson to shoot Weatherby 300 rounds, myself.

Can't be done really...
Large capacity cartridges like the .300 Wby need every inch of barrel length they can get to make the most of the slow burning magnum rifle powders used in them. Slower buring powders+long barrels=incresed velocities with comparativley tame chamber pressures.
You could theoretically use powders with a faster burn rate, but the chamber pressure will go up way faster than you could reach usuable velocities.

With short barreled guns, especially in handguns... the name of the game is cartridges efficiency.... getting the most out of the limited barrel length using cartridges with shorter, fatter powder collums to give better ignition and burn. Allowing the powder to burn as completle as possible before exiting the muzzle.

Trust me this one will probably be more wrist twisting, thundering fun then 99.9% of people would care for.
