Desert Sun Performing Arts has created Maricopa’s first professional Ballet Company, the “Pearls”.  Obviously every great achievement begins with a single step and on a small scale.  Initially, the Pearls will be a children's ballet core group, a group of dancers dedicated to ballet and the history of the art.  The group will learn about the history, variations, and choreography from actual ballets.  In order to make it more affordable for the parents and families, the children will be fundraising to have professional tutus and costumes made for them.  The costumes will remain property of DSPA in hopes that in the years to come we will have a collection to be able to put on full length ballets for the city of Maricopa.

In November DSPA will be hosting a tea party.  DSPA owner Ceylan Gentilella will be reading the story of the Nutcracker and the "Pearls" will be performing excerpts from the Nutcracker such as "Arabian" Chinese" "Marzipan".  Our leading roles include Addison Bennett who will portray "Clara", Christian Del Bianco "Nutcracker" and Alexa Martinez "Sugar Plum Fairy"  During this tea we will also serve tea and finger sandwiches....more details will be available in September

DSPA is seeking sponsors and these individuals will receive recognition in DSPA programs, complimentary show tickets and much more.  The funds will go to giving scholarships to gifted dancers and those in financial need.

DSPA Pearls will be touring the local elementary schools and pre schools performing pieces from "Peter and the Wolf", excerpts from ballets, and some of our own choreography to stories like Angelina Ballerina.

If you are interested in becoming a Ballet Company sponsor or have the DSPA Pearls perform at your function contact owner Ceylan Gentilella at (520) 483-8915 or email dance@desertsunperformingarts.com.

Desert Sun Performing Arts is located in Maricopa on the corner of John Wayne Parkway and Garvey.
