Did anyone else read about sheriff Joe's latest method to identify illegal from real citizen? As the new immigration law takes effect today, Sheriff Arpaio has come up with an ingenious way to tell who and who not to check for papers. Across the state, and especially in Maricopa County, peace officers and border patrol agents are being issued tortillas to help them enforce the new Arizona illegal immigrant laws. "Basically, if they are darker than a tortilla, we're gonna need to see some papers," Sheriff Joe Arpaio stated with no sense of irony, being a first generation American himself. "I'm even willing to give them toasted tortillas, just to be on the safe side. But when my officers hold up a tortilla to the skin of a possible illegal immigrant, if dark let's nark." The major issue concerning the program, known as "Turning of the Tortilla", was whether to use flour or corn tortillas as the matrix for skin color. While the corn tortillas were more traditional per the Arpaio's target demographic, the Sheriff said, "the slight yellow tint had my posse bringing in Asians like we were using rice cakes." Sheriff Joe finally decided on the flour tortilla due to its pure whiteness, which also matched his vision of an utopian America. Other problems included finding any hispanic willing to make Sheriff Arpaio a single cursed tortilla to keeping his officers from using the new litmus test for what is a "True" American as a taco, burrito or in a nice soup. Once the officers understood the serious business involved in comparing people's skin to a tortilla, Sheriff Joe and his posse were able to sweep over 10,000 people in a single day. 9,990 were later found to be living here legally.

Yeah I kinda thought the tortilla test was funny. Found it on another website, and blatantly stole it for here.
Completely agree with "yer wavin the wrong flag you friggin assholes", but let's be real: in politics nothing is ever about what it seems to be about. Everybody wants to frame everything instead of discussing anything.
Is there a major problem with people here illegally? Hell yes. Is every single person here illegally the problem? Hell no. Should we secure our borders? Hell yes. Is it possible to "fully" secure any border? Hell no. Should people who snuck into the country or overstayed their visa be allowed to stay? Hell no. Should we accept that a large portion of the 10 million or so seem to be contributing members of society and that our nation would be lessened if we rounded them up and kicked them out? Hell yes.
But we can't discuss stuff in this country anymore. The left screams THEY'RE ALL RACISTS OMG IT'S LIKE THE KLAN which is throwing the race card first which apparently means the thrower is not racist even though they drew first color, but can't actually say exactly what is racist about "people here illegally are here illegally". The right meanwhile gives us such mind-numbing crap as THEY'RE CUTTING OFF AMERICANS HEADS BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL DRUG MULES which is patently and completely and obviously false.
It rained. Rather nicely too. The new puppy was totally into being out on the porch checking it out.
Oh and the law won't stand in it's entirety. The Feds have always won that battle. And hey did anyone else read about the effort underway cross-country to use the massive amount of fingerprint data to find and deport the illegals who are doing crimes? Nice start eh? No racial angle available either: just known criminals gotta go home. Sorry 'bout not having a link to what I read on it handy.

I actually like that pic.
Great country we live in where someone can express themselves like that.
Makes me proud. But sad at the same time.

That makes me angry and sad. I understand being proud of your heritage and ancestry - but you are claiming rights afforded to citizens of the United States of America. If you are swearing fealty and allegiance to another nation, please feel free to reside in that nation and claim it as your own. This is the US of A - therefore your allegiance is to THIS nation. Don't like it...leave.

If it was a celebration of heritage I can understand a foreign flag waved. there are many holidays a year where various foreign flags are displayed. but during today's protest it's simply saying they have no intention of leaving their home nation to become Americans. It's saying they will enjoy all the luxuries that other immigrants have created here while avoiding the downsides.

In this instance it's like a slap in the face as far as I'm concerned.
By this blatantly disrespectful display, they are saying: We ran from a country that treats us like a hot steaming pile of cow poop to come here to the States ILLEGALLY but we still have enough respect for the country that shits on us to wave THEIR flag; but not enough respect for YOUR country after having been given better treatment then your OWN citizens, to actually follow your laws and come to YOUR country LEGALLY. And yep, you're not going to do a damn thing about me being illegal...viva Mexico!

Agreed. Wave whatever damned flag you like as long as you're waving your flag because of something positive. Waving Mexico's flag because a law that you didn't like got partially shot down is *not* a positive thing. Wave the A-flag when our system of checks and balances keep bad laws from being enforced (which is not saying it's a bad law, which I think it is, but if you're happy a law went away then you're happy the American System worked). HOA rules notwithstanding of course. Actually, they typically have rules about how you can decorate your house and yard with flags. Which flags on what days and all that. Probably ain't got a leg to stand on if you wanna walk the streets with a flag, or do up your car/truck/unicycle with flapping fabric. Which is kinda weird because I don't think my HOA makes any exception for flags from other nations at appropriate times of year. So HOAs are all nationalist nazis. hm! So ... anybody else vaguely remember when it was illegal to wear an A-flag? Good thing that changed eh?

The people doing it (waving Mexico's flag during protests)bring about the wrong emotion from others who see it. This cause "both sides" to look in terms of US Vs. Them, which is painful for everyone and doesn't solve anything (similar to our Congressional rep. calling for "economic sanctions" on AZ tourism and conventions). I try to see the strength in This country because (Again) no matter how much it "hurts", our great country, with freedom of speech/expression, allows this to happen. But, I definitely see how it can be a slap in the face because because ironically, it seems, the protesters are waving the WRONG flag. How would it look to those who are in favor of the law if those same protesters waved and embraced the US Flag? It may never happen, but I think attitudes and perspectives would be much different. I was talking to someone very dear to me about the flag waving issue. This person couldn't believe it when I shared the news of the protests and flag waving. The agreement was with most posters here that it is "disrespectful" to the US and Americans and they shouldn't do it. The feeling was to wave the USA flag or, at least, wave Mexico's flag WITH the USA Flag. Let me add that this person was born and raised in Mexico (rooted for Mexico during the world cup, but also cheered for the USA.)

The flag in this picture, taken at the immigration rally yesterday, is Cuban. You can't see it, but it's overprinted with a picture of Che Gueverra. How quickly they forget. If Che was such a great guy and Communism was such a fantastic ideology, why did we have the Muriel boat lift?

What pisses me off is all the Pro-1070 lunatics that MISS THE fracking POINT....
The original AZ-SB1070-MADE it a CRIME to WALK, TRAVEL-FREELY, or otherwise CONDUCT in FREEDOM without possessing ID.. not to mention the infringement on EVERY UNITED STATES CITIZEN and the INHERENT RIGHT that they are INNOCENT until proven GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW..
and to think some of you douchebag, sub-50-IQ-having-supporters have the audacity to call yourselves "Conservatives" and/or "Patriots."
You are nothing more than the "liberal filth" you rally against.. The only difference is that your party affiliates have more money.. How ironic.. YOUR PARTY has enough money to "buy out" the competition and yet only takes STM datad
