Shortly after closing Friday night, burglars broke into the Duke’s golf shop.  According to employees, the perpetrators used part of an outdoor umbrella to chisel their way through a wall, behind the alarm monitor. They broke through the back door window as well and gained access to the safe. The safe was damaged and could not be opened by employees. They are still not sure if anything was actually taken.
There is video footage of the break in.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Maricopa Police at (520) 866-5111

This will be updated as information becomes available. News Of Maricopa has requested more info as well as any video that may be available from the Maricopa Police Department.

Actually, our crime rate is down.
This looked like an opportunist that did not know what he was doing. I would question why that monitor was on an exterior wall, though.

No worries. MPD has had a pretty good record lately of actually solving crimes.

I do get mad at them, but their record is really pretty good on crimes like this.

We shall see.
