Councilmember Marvin Brown an honored speaker at groundbreaking event:Maricopa, Ariz. (July 16, 2010) - On Friday, July 16, at 9 a.m., Councilmember Marvin Brown was invited as a Maricopa representative to speak during the groundbreaking event for the construction of new light industrial space at the Santa Cruz Commerce Center in the Ak-Chin Indian Community. Located at Murphy Road and the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, this leasable space is expected to be completed by early 2011, at a total of over 10,000 square feet. "We have enjoyed partnering with the Ak-Chin in our economic development efforts over the past several years. I look forward to much success for this new development as well as our continued partnership," said Brown. Councilmembers Alan Marchione and Julia Gusse were also in attendance. Redevelopment District Committee open for applications:Maricopa, Ariz. (July 19, 2010) - Are you or is someone you know a property owner or a business owner within the City's Redevelopment District (now referred to as the Heritage District) Area? If so, please consider applying to serve as a member of its Citizens Advisory Committee. This committee is a group of individuals dedicated to the success of the Redevelopment District Area Plan, and the continued involvement of community stakeholders in all decision-making. Committee members are appointed by the City Council. Meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of the month, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
