Apparently one of the inflatable dams that creates the Tempe Towne Lake broke about an hour and a half ago.  All the water is now running down the river.  I might have to swing over that way in the morning and see what it looks like.

Not sure what there would be to see right now.  That riverbed's pretty dark right there.

I have not heard of any rescues. They were doing a search for transients that hang out there.

I just bought a 10 foot aluminum boat last week.  I was supposed to go fishing on Tempe Town Lake tonight, with a friend.  It didn't work out cause other stuff came up.  I'm not sure if I'm grateful, or pissed off.  That would'a been Mr Toad's wild ride!!

Guess this shouldn't be a surprise:

Quote
January's heavy rains have delayed the replacement of Town Lake's four west-end dams.

Replacement of them was to begin in early February. Construction was postponed last month when the Valley suffered its most severe winter storm in 17 years. The dams are being replaced because the rubber of which they are made is deteriorating.

Saw this story on Fox10 News this AM. The lake is nearly empty -- less than 3 feet deep in most places.

When I used to work in Tolleson there was always an issue of people camping in the Salt River Wash. Wonder how they all fared?

I'm by the dam now.  Not much water left.  The ground is still covered with water, but barely!
