Get ready for the Great American Barbecue:
This Fourth of July, bring the family out to the Great American Barbecue! The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Pacana Park, 19000 N. Porter Road. There will be water slides, a dunk tank, inflatables, games, a food court and so much more. In addition, there will be entertainment all night long. At 9:15 p.m., there will be an outstanding, patriotic fireworks display that you won’t want to miss.
Complimentary park-and-ride shuttle service will run from 5:30-11 p.m. from the following locations:
Pima Butte Elementary School, 42202 W Rancho El Dorado Parkway Santa Rosa Elementary School, 21400 N Santa Rosa Ave Maricopa Elementary School, 18150 N Alterra Pkwy Santa Cruz Elementary School, 19845 N Costa del Sol Maricopa Wells Middle School, 43735 W Honeycutt Ave Butterfield Elementary School, 43800 W Honeycutt Ave Ace Hardware (ADA Access), 21542 N John Wayne Parkway
In response to high demand at prior events, the City has increased the number and size of shuttles at some locations.

Green Business Program expanded to serve home-based businesses:
Made possible by an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Maricopa Green Business Program is not only a benefit to commercial businesses but those that are home-based as well. Soils testing results available on City’s website:
The City of Maricopa has received the results of the soils and efflorescence samples testing from AMEC Earth and Environment. The samples were obtained from several residential locations within Maricopa. To view the report, please visit the City’s website.

Bring your children to Movie Day at the Library:
Come to the library July 16 and 17 for a special movie showing and a snack to accompany the Summer Reading Program, Make a Splash. The movie will be presented at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Space is limited, so register early.
The July movie is “The Little Mermaid.” The animated feature is the tale of a mermaid princess who makes a Faustian bargain with an unscrupulous sea hag in order to meet a human prince on land.
Also at the Library is Storytime. Storytime is available on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for children ages 2 and younger, Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., for ages 3 and 4 and on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., for children ages 5 and older. For more information, call the Library at 520/568.2926.
City Council meeting:
The next City Council meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 31. The work session will begin at 6 p.m., with the regular meeting at 7 p.m. Council meetings are held at the Maricopa Unified School District Administrative Offices, 44150 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
