I'm glad you thought it was for the best. Those of us impacted by this forced change don't necessarily share your sentiments. Note the word forced...we had no say in the matter; to the city, APS, ED3 and the Arizona Corporation Commission. Each pointed fingers at each other as the one to address comments. In the end - no one was really listening.
I am not pleased when you consider what this will do to our rates. APS generates electricity. ED3 does not and made a much publicized mistake in a contract purchase at the height of the market. Good news for the company they are paying...bad news for those paying ED3. Based on the last rate figures I saw, I can expect my electric bill to go up about 25%.
Yes, Ed#3 made the mistake at the height of the market. Unfortunately, there is no way for them to go back. Ed#3 was no different than others who wanted to "lock in" before costs went higher. Airlines is one example of an industry. Many individuals did the same when buying homes in that period.
Please don't take it as "defense" of ED#3; if they didn't lock people would be irate they didn't.
I do understand your concern that you were NOT an ED#3 customer at all during the whole process; I voiced my concern to the board directly as a whole regarding the areas outside of the City of Maricopa and potential rate increases. I want(ed) it to work out well for everyone.
Please keep us updated.
