java applet chat?

Is this the worst idea or what?  A java applet chatroom for mc360.  not sure if it is even possible in this framework, I know nada about forum stuff.  I just know I've seen forums with them.  And even those forums say "this thing is a beast and sucks"

They do work on SMF.  There was one up on Mine for a while - problem is with chats people post less so there is less of interest to read on the forum.  It kind of makes for dead reading.
